I try to keep this blog nonpolitical BUT

I'm a very happy man today.

I am a Democrat, born to the blue and dyed in the wool.   So, the victories that Dems had across the country are giving me a wide smile.

However, at the same time I am concerned that the Democratic leadership will simply blow it.   This election was about the current dire state of our economy, that is very true.  It was also about something else.  The rule of law was stretched but it didn't break.   Which brings up why I'm here today.

I'm wondering, truly, if we want to pursue criminal charges against Trump and company?  Or even if we should.   Yes, I am NOT a lawyer.  I have no idea if he has committed crimes or not, but I believe he has.

That means, for our system to work correctly and reestablish the rule of law in this country that he has to be investigated and if the evidence - if any- shows that he broke the law, charged and brought to justice.

If that means serving jail time, for not only Trump but any of his crony's as well, then so be it.

I have mixed emotions about this.   First off, one of the reasons that Trump came to power the second time is because the Biden administration showed weakness in not bringing him to justice.   The man did break several laws both during his time as President, and after his first term ended as well.

There is a long-standing rule in American politics, however.  We do not jail our political opponents.  Trump however violated that rule in his actions against people that disagreed with him not only politically but personally.

Frankly that's what this video is about.  Why we should peruse charges against those that broke the law.    This is where I stand.

What all the cool kids are reading.

In praise of the simple pumpkin. It has a lot of potential other than pies.

As I write this the temperature is climbing.  We have a window or two open, knowing that soon enough we will be shutting up the house for the next three months or so we can protect ourselves and our cats against the onslaught of winter.   Our wood stove burned overnight to take the chill out of the air and I found myself buying new boots and gloves and driving home with the windows down. This is the nature of autumn in Western Pennsylvania and as I sip on my pumpkin flavored coffee, I cannot help but praise the fruit of the season, and yes it is a fruit, the simple pumpkin. A few things are still growing in our garden, the last of the herbs and tomatoes...a stray pepper or two that needs to be picked.  Yet I find myself interested in growing pumpkins next year after realizing their potential and that they are high in nutritional value.   It's easy to forget in our modern world just how easy we have it as compared to our great grandparents and their grandparents....

The topic is "Lab Grown Meat." It's back in the news again!

I was on a bit of a side quest a few days ago and ended up eating dinner by myself at a cute 1950's style diner, complete with the music and red plastic chairs of the period.  I entered and had already resigned myself to a chicken or meat dinner; so imagine my surprise when I was able to order a vegetarian meal.   That's something that I've been trying to do for some time because I know that when I order a vegan/vegetarian dinner at a restaurant; I 'm doing my part to make these items a little bit more accessible to others, as well as helping my overall health and reducing my carbon footprint just a tiny bit more. The waitress and I started chatting about this and she stated she wanted to try more plant based items.  I mentioned one of my favorite companies Quorn .  Either due to luck or more likely the all powerful algorithm; what showed up in my news feed at the diner was that Ron DeSantis, current governor of Florida, was in the process of trying to ba...

Taking care of my mental health. A brief hiatus is in order

Without going into to much detail, I decided to leave my job at the beginning of September.  There are many reasons for this but for some time I've been feeling that my current position has not been the best fit for either the company or myself.    I did not feel like the company was listening to my concerns nor do I feel like they really cared for their employee's; despite a killer benefit package that I'll never see again.  Their technology was at least 20 years behind everyone else and  I believe that they really didn't have the best interests of their customers at heart. It's not all their fault.  I'm to blame too as it seems that I've not been living up to their goals and needs for the last year, and this is one of the reasons it's taken me so long to write this blog post. In addition to trying to find a new job before the end of the month, I've been dealing with anxiety and a mild case of depressio n.  Writing a blog that deals with ...
